Fragas do Eume: Europe's best-preserved Atlantic forest
The Fragas do Eume natural park is one of Europe's best-preserved Atlantic forests: over 9,000 hectares in the valley of the river Eume. Centuries-old oaks, birches, hazels and ferns form a cathedral-like canopy, and hidden in its green heart is the 10th-century monastery of Caaveiro.
