In February As Pontes holds the Feira do Grelo (Tourist Interest), with a contest for the finest grelos around.
Feira do Grelo de Xestoso
In February Monfero holds the Feira do Grelo de Xestoso, just before Entroido.
March
Noite das Pepitas
Around 19 March (St Joseph's), Ferrol fills with music: the roldas (singing groups) parade through the streets, with an act at the Teatro Jofre and open-air performances. A Galician Festival of Tourist Interest.
April
Semana Santa de Ferrol
Declared of International Tourist Interest: brotherhood processions through the Magdalena quarter (March or April).
Romaría de Chamorro
On Easter Monday Ferrol climbs in pilgrimage to the Chamorro hermitage in Serantes.
May
Romaría do Voto de Chanteiro
One of Ferrolterra's most traditional pilgrimages, at the hermitage of Nosa Señora do Porto de Chanteiro (Ares). Tradition holds that in 1404 the people of Ares and Mugardos begged the Virgin to spare them from a plague and vowed to offer her six pounds of wax each year: the famous Voto de Chanteiro, still renewed by both towns. Held at Pentecost (movable date), with Mass, bagpipes and empanada.
June
San Xoán e Feira do Trece
Narón lights its San Xoán bonfires (24 June); year-round, the historic Feira do Trece (on the 13th) brings produce and food to Sedes.
San Xoán de Os Casás
Cerdido celebrates San Xoán (Os Casás) around 24 June, with barbecues and a bonfire.
July
Festival Internacional do Mundo Celta
The great folk festival of the Celtic regions: born in 1978 out of the Escola de Gaitas de Ortigueira, it is free and of International Tourist Interest, drawing tens of thousands on the second weekend of July. Free camping in the Morouzos pine grove by the beach, and it closes on Sunday with the traditional Desfile de Bandas (band parade).
Festas do Carme
On 16 July the seafaring towns (Mugardos, Ares, Cedeira, Cariño…) honour the Virxe do Carme with maritime processions.
Festa do Polbo
A Tourist-Interest festival devoted to Mugardos-style octopus, every July.
Festas do Apóstolo Santiago
As Somozas honours its patron, St James (Santiago), around 24-27 July, with masses, a vermouth session and dances with big orchestras.
August
Festival Irmandiño
Moeche castle relives the Irmandiños revolts with music and a festive 'assault' on the castle (late August).
Pantín Classic Galicia Pro
Pantín beach's international surf contest, between late August and early September.
Festas Agostinas (San Salvador)
Fene holds its August festival for San Salvador (1-6 August), with San Caetano in Maniños on the 7th.
Festas de San Roque
Ares holds its San Roque patron festival around 7-9 August; in June the historic Voto de Chanteiro also stands out.
Festas da Nosa Señora das Neves
A Capela holds its Nosa Señora das Neves patron festival in early August (around the 5th).
Festas da Asunción
Pontedeume celebrates the Assumption on 15 August, in the medieval Andrade town.
Festas da Virxe do Mar
Cedeira devotes its big festival to its patron, the Virxe do Mar, from 1 to 17 August.
San Roque de Narahío e Feira do Medio Rural
In August San Sadurniño holds San Roque de Narahío and the Feira do Medio Rural of country produce.
San Ramón de Doroña
Vilarmaior celebrates San Ramón de Doroña from late August into early September, with the Doroña folk pilgrimage (second Sunday of July) and the well-known Festa da Tortilla.
Festas de San Bartolomeu
Cariño honours its patron, San Bartolomeu (San Bartolo), from 23 to 26 August, with the main day on the 24th.
September
Festas de Santa María
Neda celebrates its patron, Santa María, around 8 September — a good time for the famous Neda bread.
Festas do Barqueiro
Mañón's festivals centre on the seaside village of O Barqueiro: the Virxe do Carme (July) and the patron festival in September.
November
Feiras de Moeche e magostos
Autumn brings the magostos (chestnuts and new wine) and the traditional fairs continue, like Moeche's on the 11th and 23rd.
Festas de Santo André
Cabanas celebrates Santo André on 30 November, its local feast; in summer, beach life at A Madalena.
