Castelo de San Felipe: the guardian of the ría de Ferrol
The 16th-century Castelo de San Felipe watches over the narrow mouth of the ría de Ferrol and is one of Galicia's best-preserved military fortifications. Together with the castle of Nosa Señora da Palma on the opposite shore, it formed an impregnable crossfire defence. Today it offers night-time dramatized tours that bring its history to life.
