🤝 What a cooperative is
A cooperative is a business with democratic ownership and management (one person, one vote), where members share the activity and the results. Galicia has over 2,000 active cooperatives.

- Agricultural: dairy, production and rural services.
- Worker: the members are the workers.
- Consumer and housing.
🛠 How to start one
You need a minimum number of members, statutes and registration in the Galician Register of Cooperatives. The Xunta offers a free virtual advisory service to guide the process.
⚡ Energy communities
A modern variant: neighbours joining to produce and share renewable energy (for example, shared solar self-consumption). INEGA informs and supports these communities.
🌟 Why a cooperative
A cooperative shares the profits among those who do the work, roots jobs in the area and decides democratically. In Galicia it is especially strong in the dairy and farming sector, uniting small producers to go further together.
